Consumer Reviews Submitted For: London Eye Centre
I had PRK done on July 19, 2005 by Dr. Miller (New Westminster location).  My pre-op refraction was -9.25/-9.50.  Since surgery I have been hopeful that my vision would slowly progress to a stable state, unfortunately that wasn't the case.   After a year or so,  I've still been experiencing halo and starburst effects at night, double vision when watching tv where there are display of bright lettering.  Night time driving is difficult, I'm unable to clearly see objects in low lit areas and depth perception becomes an issue.  Night clubs and restaurants with dim light makes it hard to see.  During the day, if I look at an object or person with a window background, I am unable to clearly see the object or individual, it's like a silhouette.

I think the doctors and technicians overlooking my case knew that something was done incorrectly, but they continued to tell me that some individuals take longer to recover.  It's been over 3 years and nothing has really been better.  I'm still experiencing the same things as before.  So about    a year an a half after the original surgery, Dr. Hollands suggested the LTK procedure which is slightly different from PRK and Lasik as it is not as invasive to the cornea.  Essentially, it is a procedure of placing laser points around the cornea to force the  shape.  So in my case, it's an attempt to curve the cornea to correct my nearsightedness.   This procedure was good for a week or so? And then I was back to how things were before...or are now.  I found out that LTK never really works, so this seemed to be a cop out procedure that the doctors hoped it'd work.

I know that my remaining corneal tissue is quite thin and I have larger pupils then most.  And to re-perform the PRK surgery may be a risk, or near impossible.  So I went to visit my eye doctor who has referred me to Dr. Lin at Pacific Laser Eye Center.  I went to visit Dr. Lin and he realizes the thin corneal tissue I have and suggests I wait a little longer since I had the LTK procedure done.  By the sounds of it, it doesn't seem very promising for me.  Although I have heard great things about Dr. Lin and his team.  I had a few friends who had it done through him.

I also revisited Coal Harbour Lasik Center to get a 2nd opinion of getting a retreatment.  And based on the consultation it seems like they're able to do the job, but it would have to get the final go ahead from Dr. Kirzner.  These were the guys who initially turned me down by the way, that's why I went to London Place Eye Center.  Thinking back, I probably should've gotten a few more consultations before proceeding with the procedure.  London Place Eye Center has also approved of a retreatment which won't cost me a dime.  But can I trust doing it through them now?  Any help and information that you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
